Notes

Hello friends. After a short break we have returned with a new review. We are gonna take a look at another title from Stephen Thrower's excellent Nightmare USA book. Today it is Arnold from 1973. This one comes from the same people that brought us Terror In The Wax Museum. I liked that movie quite a bit and will probably do a review of it to go alongside this one. Both were filmed at the same time & shared cast & crew members. Let's take a look at Arnold.

The story here is wealthy Arnold dies. After he dies, he marries his mistress. Yes, after he dies. His will states that his ex-wife & relatives get next to nothing while his new bride gets everything. The only stipulation is she must keep his preserved body with her wherever she goes. Arnold leaves cassette tapes to be played from his casket so his voice can live on from beyond the grave. Various relatives start showing up searching for Arnold's hidden fortune & get dispatched in colorful ways, one guy is killed by a suit! He really planned for everything but the question remains, is he really dead?

What we have here is a very tongue in cheek horror comedy & it is an absolute gem! This movie has it all: an utterly bizarre plot, clever murders, wretched theme song & some fun twists along the way. I highly recommend checking this one out. Great cast including Roddy "Fright Night" McDowall, Stella Stevens, horror fans may recognize her from William Girdler's The Manitou & Farley Granger from The Prowler & various Hitchcock movies. This & Terror In The Wax Museum are sadly director Georg Fenady's only horror movies as his career seemed to be mostly in television.

Vinegar Syndrome released this on blu-ray so you know it's excellent quality. Arnold is Sunny's Video approved with 4 barks out of 5.
